Editorial Policies and Guidelines
What we publish, how decisions are made, and what you can hold us to.
Two documents govern everything we publish
Both are written to be read in full and quoted back at us if we depart from them.
Editorial Policy and Scope
What the magazine covers, the five standing sections, what we will not publish, how commissioning decisions are reached, the response times we hold ourselves to, and how corrections work.
Peer Review and Publication Ethics
The review applied to each section, conflicts of interest, authorship, image integrity, disclosure rules for generative tools, and the correction and retraction ladder.
In short
The commitments that matter most
We are not a peer-reviewed journal and ask that contributors do not describe us as one. We publish explanatory and argumentative writing about research, reviewed editorially with expert readers — the difference is set out section by section in the ethics policy.
Pitches are answered within fifteen working days and commissioned drafts within ten. If we miss either, the delay is ours to explain rather than yours to chase.
We do not quietly amend text. A correction says what was wrong and what it now says, carries a date, and stays attached to the article.
Editorial decisions are not made by advertisers, sponsors or clients. Where we cover an organisation that is also a CF360 client, that is disclosed on the page.
